Young scientists
Mobilising young researchers (PhD students, post-doctoral fellows) from the start of their career is essential to enabling research on cystic fibrosis to be conducted within laboratories. "Vaincre la Mucoviscidose" is the first European financer of young scientists conducting research on cystic fibrosis with 30 to 40 young scientists supported each year. Beyond financing, it is important for them to be able to confront and discuss their research with their peers. Therefore, each year, "Vaincre la Mucoviscidose" organises two symposia especially dedicated to young scientists involved in cystic fibrosis field.
Young French-speaking scientists are invited to present their work, often a first for them, to the French “Colloque des jeunes chercheurs”.
With the wealth of this positive experience, "Vaincre la Mucoviscidose" joined forces with five other patients' associations (Germany, Belgium, Italy, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom), in collaboration with the European Cystic Fibrosis Society (www.ecfs.eu), to launch the Young European Researchers' Symposium in 2007.
